This Year witnessed the first Hampshire County Closed Junior tournament to be held on Guernsey at the Beau Sejour leisure centre, St. Peter Port sponsored by Butterfield Bank. Some 37 Junior players attended from the mainland, and Hampshire Squash had offered every player a £40 subsidy towards the travel costs. The event was run very professionally which was principally down to Jennie Dodd and her team in Guernsey, and all the preparatory work Devan Kandiah had done prior to the event.

The Saturday evening witnessed some vigorous trampolining by the Junior players, not to mention a few bruises being incurred by one or two people. A BBQ followed the activities and a great night was had by all players and guests.

Throughout all the matches played over the 3 days we witnessed a very high standard of Squash being played, and the conduct on court was to be commended. Once we have had the opportunity to fully analyse the event and the costs, it would be hoped that we could consider running the event on a 4 yearly basis.
