End of Season for Hants Squash Leagues 2007-08 from David Law. Sent to club reps on 25/4/2008. |
Today is the final day for completing all squash league matches. As we are running two weeks later than usual because of the early Easter this year, I'm anxious to have the final league tables completed as soon as possible. Could I therefore ask all clubs who have had fixtures in the last few days, to input their results into LMS as soon as possible. I still have to penalise a number of ladies teams for non-fulfilment of fixtures. Ladies teams who put out a less than full team of five are no longer penalised (rule 5.6). However it has been pointed out to me that rule 5.4 (which I have not applied to ladies teams) where a team is penalised 20 points for not fulfilling a fixture still exists and that I should apply it. After considering the matter, I agree and I will be making adjustments later today to LMS. I will inform clubs who have been affected by this and if they feel they have grounds for appeal, should do so as soon as possible, and certainly within the next 14 days. If you believe that such penalties shouldn't be imposed then might I suggest you propose an amendment to the league rules. I shall be sending out the team registration form within the next 7 days. When entering teams for next season, please consider whether you have enough committed players to support the teams throughout the full season. There has been an excessive number of unfulfilled fixtures and fixtures with less than full teams this season which have affected promotion and relegation, which I believe is not healthy for the integrity of the league and which I would like to see reduced next season. I would also like to know as soon as possible where teams might be significantly stronger or weaker next season and in particular where clubs might want to play in a lower division or might not want to take up a promoted position. Thank you RegardsDavid |
