Proposals for consideration at the 2008-2009 HSRA AGM

Updated Status of Proposals and other backgroung information circulated by David Law on 27th June
.

Agenda.

No seconder was forthcoming for the proposed amendment to league rules by Fair Oak, that the number of players per team in Ladies Division 2 should be reduced to four. This proposal has therefore been dropped from the agenda. Otherwise the Agenda remains as previously circulated.

Financial Report

My apologies that my software for converting Excel spreadsheets into pdf documents couldn't manage to create a single document, therefore there are 3 pdf documents making up the financial report.

AGM Reports

In an attempt to "professionalise" our AGM, we have decided to circulate officer and committee reports prior to the meeting so that you can read them at leisure. At the AGM the Chairman will assume that you have already read the report but will invite questions to the appropriate officer re. their circulated reports. This pre-circulation should also make the meeting more concise.

KO League Cup competition organiser required.

You will note in my report that Tony Stride who has run the cup competitions for a number of years will no longer be able to continue next season. This is an appeal for someone to step in as replacement, otherwise the competitions might not be run this coming season.

Inter-county Championships team captains required

The results of the senior inter-county teams are included in the reports. You will note that two of the teams entered withdrew because of a lack of players available for the weekend, for which we were heavily fined. We are also desperately short of county captains willing to organise the teams. Currently I am short of captains/organisers for the following teams:
Men's Over 35
Women's 1st
Women's 2nd
Women's Over 40 2nd
Women's Over 50
Closing date for entries is Monday 14 July. Regrettably, unless volunteers come forward, I will not enter teams in these categories. Please pass on this request for volunteers to players within your club who might be willing to take on these responsiblities.
Many thanks
David

Proposals Circulated to clubs by David Law on 10th June
.

  1. Proposed by River Park, an amendment to rule 6.3 to do away with the requirement for the away side to automatically send in their match card to the league organiser.

    Rule 6.3 Amend last sentence to read;
The away side is responsible for sending the match card to the league organiser as soon as possible after the match and at the latest within 7 days of the match date if they disagree with the results entered on to the LMS by the home team or if they want to make a particular comment.

Note: This proposal will require another club as seconder before 24 June. I, as League organiser, oppose this proposal as it stands. However if it is withdrawn or rejected by the AGM, I am willing to suspend the requirement to send in match cards for a trial period, starting at the beginning of this coming season. If it works satisfactorily, the committee will propose an amendment at the 2009-10 AGM to make the change permanent.

  2. A new rule to require all Mens Premier League matches to be played on the same weekday match night from the beginning of the 2009-10 season. The match night will be decided after consultation with all clubs competing in the Hants Premier League in the 2009-10 season.

Proposed by two Premier league clubs and adopted by the Hants Committee and therefore does not require a seconder

Proposal from Fairoak

15/5/2008.

Hi David

Fair Oak would like to propose a change to numbers of Lady players from 5 to 4 in Division Two or the introduction of a new Social league.
Fair Oak have the ability to field a four player team but at present could not put out a five player team on a consistent basis and therefore would not be able to enter a team into the leagues for next season. This means one less fixture for all the clubs and our ladies would not get any Hants league squash in the season. With the number of Ladies playing squash we think there is a need to re-look at the team structure along the lines of the Men's Vets teams.
I hope this is acceptable for inclusion as a proposal into the AGM but of course any feedback well in advance of the meeting would be welcome as we have to enter the teams by next Friday 23rd May.
Cheers
Brian

Proposal from Havant Rugby Club/Willem.

15/5/2008.

Hi Dave,
While on the subject of proposing changes I would like to propose that rule 5.3 be simplified to be as follows:-

5.3 All matches should be played on the date published on the LMS. Postponement of a fixture must be agreed by BOTH clubs and the League Secretary and be ratified on the LMS.

Regards Willem
